Jesse Schouten
Jesse grew up on the Olympic Peninsula, in Port Angeles with an extensive athletic background and at the age of 7, began playing tennis with his family. Tennis became Jesse’s passion and priority after a life changing USTA scholarship trip took him to the U.S. Open where he worked side by side with the ATP and WTA pros as a ball boy.
Jesse followed his passion as a player into college where he developed to become the 2003 NWAACC Men’s singles and doubles champion, player of the year and Skagit Valley College athlete of the year. From 2002-2005, Jesse was the SVC head coach, and received honors as the NWACC coach of the year. His men’s teams won the conference championships consecutively in 2004 and 2005. Jesse also competes in the PNW Men’s open money circuit, and in 2006 reached his highest ranking to date finishing the year ranked fifth.
From 2001-2003, Jesse rose from Bellingham Tennis Club Assistant Pro, to Head Men’s Coach at SVC, to Mill Creek Tennis Club Head Pro. Jesse was promoted to Director of Tennis in 2006 at the Mill Creek Tennis Club. Jesse credits his largest personal growth as both a player and as a coach to his five years spent developing a highly successful junior program at the Mill Creek Tennis Club. There, Jesse developed a unique setting for players to thrive in a fun, efficient, challenging and family like atmosphere. He currently works with many of those grass roots players he started in Mill Creek that are now National caliber tournament players.
Jesse was a professional hitting partner for the ATP and WTA in 2007 and 2008 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Palm Springs. Jesse is USPTA certified as a P1. In 2008 and 2009 Jesse worked as the PNW Sales Representative for Fischer Tennis USA and learned much about racket technologies and how to best match players to the equipment best suited for them.
At twenty eight, Jesse is striving to continue to compete as a player, and most importantly grow the PNW tennis community a whole, starting with his eager students Janine and Gracie (Jesse’s wife and 2 year old daughter).
Jesse is the RTC's Development Director for Juniors Programming.
