14-year old Marielle Trumbauer is definitely enjoying her first year of tennis at Bishop Blanchet High School. Having played tennis on and off since the age of five, she made the girls' varsity tennis team as a freshman with little competitive experience. When Marielle arrived at the RTC, she immediately made it clear to everyone that she was very serious about her tennis game. One of the most coachable students at the RTC, Marielle latched on to the techniques that would help prepare her for her freshman year.

After spending five months at the RTC, Marielle had this to say, “I learned so much in my first week at the RTC and every week I saw progress with my game. I hope to have a good first season and be a solid addition to the Blanchet tennis team as a freshman.”

Coach Jesse Schouten saw strong focus and a great attitude from Marielle saying, “Marielle has shown great determination consistently each day at the training center. She's deeply engaged and focused from the first ball of the day she hits to the last ball she hits. Marielle is one of the most improved players we've coached at RTC. I'm positive she will have a very successful freshman season this Spring. Keep running and rippin' Marielle!”

High school has been great so far for Marielle and the best parts have been experiencing so many different things and meeting so many new friends and faces. Besides tennis, she enjoys skiing, snowboarding, soccer, biking, and backpacking. You can catch her hanging out with her friends in her free time listening to the Beatles.

She plans to study hard and apply to Whitman College where she hopes to prepare for law school. Something tells us that her fierce competitive nature will help her become a strong attorney.

This summer, Marielle will continue with her tennis development as an intern at the RTC helping teach tennis to younger kids. She'll also take a crack at the summer tournament series around the Sound.
