SP Spinners
The Sand Point Spinners are the feature player(s) of the month at the RTC. Since the RTC opened its doors in December of 2009, this 3.0 USTA Ladies team has consistenly attended Cardio Tennis workouts with Coach Jeff Richards.
Team Captain, Jana Sleight, exclaims, "I love the music and hitting tons of balls which builds my confidence and teaches me to be more aggressive in my matches."
Some members of the SP Spinners have been able to find a program for everyone in their family like the Summers. When asked about how she feels the RTC has helped her family, teammate Michelle Summers said,
"It is so great to have the RTC so close to home. This area is in such need of covered tennis courts. Having the RTC here has allowed me to play more tennis because it has provided a facilitiy that is conveniently located and programs that are well run and challenge me as a tennis player.
The kids lessons taught by Johann are excellent and very structured. My son learned a lot including all the parts of the court, forhand, backhand, and volley in a fun, organized setting perfect for five year olds!
I love Cardio Tennis! It has definitely made me a better player because it is fast-paced and makes me constantly think about moving my feet....which is so important! Jeff makes it fun by playing music and incorporates crossfit workouts into the class so you are constantly moving and getting a great workout as well as hitting a ton of balls!"
SP Spinner Stephanie Joss states, "The RTC has added some much needed indoor tennis courts for the Seattle area. I have thoroughly enjoyed the cardio tennis with Jeff and look forward to trying new programs in the future. I think the cardio has improved my game by helping with my endurance and it’s a ton of fun - I love the tunes!
I couldn’t be luckier with how close it is to my house and I cannot wait for the new facility to be built."
The team recently won their season ending match in the Evergreen Cup division allowing them to move up to the Emerald Cup division. With a last-minute practice at the RTC to help them work on a few key elements of their game, the SP Spinners played confidently and came through with the win.
The RTC is proud to recognize the Sand Point Spinners as the Profiled Players of the Month of May!
Congratulations Sand Point Spinners!!
