January's Player Profile of the Month is 10 year old Jack Katzman of Laurelhurst Elementary School.

One can sometimes find this 5th grader playing Parks & Recreation basketball, NESLL baseball, or a round of golf on the course with his Dad. But more often than not, Jack can be found swinging away on a tennis court and now even closer to home at the Racquet Training Center (RTC) at Sand Point. Jack is really excited about the opening of the RTC as well as having the chance to meet and hit with lots of other kids.

Jack says his favorite things about tennis are competing in tournaments and getting to know the other players. He played his first tournament in May of 2009 and has steadily progressed through the Pacific Northwest Boys 10 & Under (U-10) Challenger rankings.

Jack won his first tournament in early December and then followed it up a couple of weeks later by claiming the title at the Pacific Northwest Challenger Sectional Tournament in Portland, OR!! As the 2nd seed of the U-10 division, Jack played brilliantly to reach the final in which he prevailed in a great three set battle against the 3rd seed. Jack’s strong and steady play saw his 2009 ranking rise all the way to the No. 2 spot in the PNW Boys U-10 Challengers Division.

The RTC at Sand Point congratulates Jack Katzman on a fantastic 2009 season!!
